TCA Hugh Murphy Mixed Doubles Championship
The TCA Hugh Murphy Mixed Doubles Championship will return in 2022.
TCA Hugh Murphy Mixed Doubles Championship is a Tier 2 World Mixed Doubles event.
The TCA Mixed Doubles was renamed as the TCA Hugh Murphy Mixed Doubles Championship in 2020.
This will be the second mixed doubles championship run by the TCA. With mixed doubles being recently added as an Olympic sport, we fully expect this championship to grow into one of the TCA’s premier events.

History
The inaugural TCA Mixed Doubles Championship was held in 2016 at Weston. In 2020, the event was renamed in honour of its founder Hugh Murphy.
Hugh Murphy’s Background: Hugh was a past president of the TCA and was involved with all aspects of the TCA but especially Youth Curling and Mixed Doubles. Hugh Murphy passed away last summer. Now Hugh’s name will always be associated with the TCA and this event.
Hugh was the consummate volunteer over the past 22 years as a member of TCA clubs and put in thousands of hours developing curling in the Greater Toronto area. He was also a past Board Member of the Ontario Curling Association (CurlON).
Hugh was a strong advocate for youth curling, running the junior program at Oakville for several years, chairing the successful Optimist bonspiel and coaching several bantam and junior teams.
In his time as TCA President, Hugh was instrumental in bringing the outdoor curling to the City of Toronto. He was also the recipient of the 2019 TCA Outstanding Achievement Award.
Hugh was not only a staple in the curling scene at Oakville C.C. and Mississaugua G&CC but was also a competitive curler with highlights including competing in the Canadian Mixed Doubles Curling Championship with his wife Janet.
We will always remember Hugh’s passion for the game and zest for life.
